HOMECOMING PARADE

In celebration of Georgia College’s Qusaquicentennial Anniversary, we’re bringing back all the fashions and fads from our institution’s 125-year history. This year’s Homecoming Parade will be a decades-themed costume party featuring all the flannels, go go boots and slick-back hairdos alumni love to remember and a few they’d undoubtedly like forget.

Since 1889, our institution has educated and trained the brightest students from Georgia and beyond. Each class brought their own sense of style and set of cultural touchstones. This year, as current students and alumni fill the parade route just off Front Campus, let’s help the memories of those college years flood down Hancock Street with a fun tribute to those who helped build the Georgia College we know today.

Each organization should select the decade of their choice and find some way to tie their float to Georgia College’s history—think school colors past and present, historical events and/or famous alumni. Floats will be judged on their adherence to the decades theme, execution of the organizations’ individual concept, craftsmanship, public appeal and overall ingenuity.

The parade will be held Saturday, Feb. 21. Lineup will begin at 10 a.m. on Tattnall Street by The Depot, and the parade will begin promptly at 11 a.m.
